Carl Vinson Sailors get in shape for upcoming PFA

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sailors aboard USS Carl Vinson are preparing for the second physical fitness assessment (PFA) cycle of 2009. The Navy requires all Sailors to keep within predetermined physical fitness standards and Sailors must pass a fitness test every six months during their careers. Sailors who cannot pass their fitness tests are automatically put on the fitness enhancement program (FEP), a preventive remedial program that helps Sailors get back within standards. Sailors are also offered nutritional education, lifestyle counseling, and weight management while on FEP. “The way I see it, if you have an unfit body, you’re more likely to have an unfit mind.
